Sweet Moments!

I do not have a lot of childhood memories that stick out in my head...I really don't know why, because I had a very good childhood. One thing I do remember clearly is my mom lying in bed with me at night and rubbing my forehead and singing to me. So, naturally, I have always done the same thing with Will. I rub his little forehead and sing. I almost always sing "Hush little baby, don't say a word, momma's going to buy you a mockingbird....etc." Well, last night, I was lying in bed with him, (he has figured out a way lately to get me to lay in his bed with him until he falls asleep) We are both very quiet and it is dark.. I think he is asleep. Then, all of a sudden, he gets real close to me, puts his hand on my forehead and starts rubbing my head. Then he says "cuddle with mommy, Will sing." He then starts singing..."Hush baby, mommy mockingbird, hmm, hmm, hmm!!" It was the sweetest thing ever and something I am so glad I have to tuck away in my memories! Although I probably should make him fall asleep by himself, moments like that make it all worth while to disobey the rules! I don't care what the experts say, sweet moments are worth it!

Keeping our fingers crossed!

For those of you who don't know, Pat and I have put a contract on a house in Columbia!! We are set to close on October 2 and are so excited about it. Although we might be a little crazy for doing this before we sell our house, we just didn't want to let this house in Columbia slip by. It is a great house in a great neighborhood and we just didn't want to lose it. We felt like it was a great deal and just couldn't pass it by. The only thing standing in our way are the inspections on Monday and Wednesday. Pat will be doing the house inspections tomorrow and we have a Stucco guy (the house is Stucco, but it is the kind that hasn't been the problem causing stucco) from Atlanta coming Wednesday just to give us a second opinion. It has already had one clean stucco inspection, but we just needed that piece of mind we will get with a second opinion. So, everyone please keep your fingers crossed that the inspections go well!! We can't wait to get into Columbia and be close to everyone!!

Relaxing Weekend

We had a very relaxing weekend and thoroughly enjoyed it. Saturday, Will decided that he wanted to camp out in Mommy and Daddy's bed the whole day. From the time we got him out of his bed in the morning until 4:00 in the the afternoon, that was the only place he wanted to be. We brought him downstairs and he said "mommy's bed" so we stayed there the whole day. Pat, of course, did not participate in the all day bed thing because he can't sit still for that long! Usually I can't either, but it was actually very nice to just do nothing all day. Will was so funny...he would say "mommy, head down" if I tried to get up and "snuggle with Mommy!" There was no way to resist that!!! The laundry and house cleaning could definitely wait when my sweet boy would say those words! There is nothing better than a day like that every once in a while. I have learned to treasure these moments because he is growing up so fast. We finally got up and headed to Nina and Pop's for the night. Saying we were going to their house was the only thing that could get Will out of bed. We had a little party to attend for Brunson Depass to welcome him home from several months of military training. We got to see Kiki (and Drew), who is 11 weeks pregnant, and cuter than ever and also Kelly Collins (and Matt), who is due in November. She looks awesome and we can't wait to meet that sweet boy in November!! We also got to see Megan and Todd and catch up with them a little. We look forward to seeing them more at the football games!! I went back to Nina and Pop's pretty early and left Pat there to catch up with all his buddies for a while. Will, of course, didn't sleep well because he doesn't want to miss a minute when he is at there house. We were up at 5:00 this morning, so he is taking a very nice nap now! Just wanted to add this picture because I thought it was funny. Pat thought it would be cute to pull Will's pants up real high and make him look like a little nerd!

HELP!!

Ok, so this going potty on the floor thing might be getting out of hand! Everytime I turn my back, Will takes off his diaper and goes potty all over the place. Too much precious time is being consumed cleaning teetee and poopoo off of the floors! Please somebody tell me that this is part of the whole potty training process and that my child does not really think that he is an animal!!! I have tried everything and can't get him to understand that it is not ok to do this! HELP!!

Bye Bye Mommy!

Those were the words that came out of Will's mouth this morning when I took him to school. Today was much different than Tuesday! He marched right in that classroom and turned to me and said "bye bye, mommy!" It was such an adorable moment that i will freeze forever. It was a wonderful feeling to know that he wanted to be there for those three hours, and that he didn't mind me leaving him. My sweet boy knows I will always come back! Nina picked him up from school today, because I had a dentist appointment, and she said he actually fussed and didn't want to leave!! He was such a big boy today and I am so very proud of him! I can't believe what a "little man" he is becoming. Another new thing he is doing is taking off his diaper immediately after he uses the bathroom...and when I say that I mean both kinds! He is obviously trying to tell me that he is ready to use the big boy potty full time! Twice now he has taken his diaper off before he needs to go potty and gone on the floor!! What is he thinking??? Sometimes I think he thinks that he is a dog. He will also get on all fours and eat and drink like a dog! He is such a boy!!! What an wonderful adventure this is!!!

Back to School!

Today was Will's first day back at school and it was not as I hoped it would be. I had to leave him screaming, "my mommy, my mommy!!!" He was not nearly as excited about school as I was. He must have calmed down though because I haven't gotten a phone call. Luckily, school is only Tuesday and Thursday from 9am-11am. We went through this the first couple of days last year, and then he would run to his classroom because he was so excited to be there. I love his teachers and I know he will too as soon as he gets used to it. Will got a little too comfortable being with Mommy all summer long! Although it breaks my heart to leave my sweet boy upset, I know he will love school! Please look at how grown up he is!! He is definitely not our baby anymore! The first picture is of Will last year on his way to school and the one under it is this year. Look how much he has grown up!

Finally Home!

Will and I are very glad Nina and Aunt Lori are home safely from their trip to New York. They have been gone since Tuesday and we have missed them very much. Will hasn't seen his Nina in 11 days!!! This is a record and we hope we never go this long again!! We both have definitely missed her!! We are so glad they had a fun trip and made it home safely! Will can't wait to see his Nina!!

Fun at Edventure!

Since the weather was not very pretty on Saturday, Pat and I decided to take Will to Edventure for a day of fun. Will decided he wanted cousin Durham to come along too, so we scooped him up from his house and off we went! Durham is the best baby and was truly mesmerized by Will and all the other bigger kids playing. We also enjoyed having him there with us too and plan to do outings like that more often with him! Will totally enjoyed having him around and playing "big brother!" Edventure is definitely a good place to go if it is raining or too hot outside to play. It was a day of fun for all involved!

A Lesson in "Watching What You Say!"

I just have to share this story and hope that everyone will find the humor in it and not think it is disgusting. It just shows that you really do have to watch what you say around a two year old! Pat and I had a little wine last night with dinner and enjoyed a few more glasses sitting on our porch. Well, Pat actually enjoyed it a lot more than me seeing that he had about a bottle and a half by himself!! But anyway, he isn't really feeling that great today. So, he is standing in the closet getting a shirt and shorts to put on and Will is standing beside him talking to him. I make the comment that "Daddy feels like PooPoo (I know, I could have found a better choice of words!), and Will starts looking at Daddy and all around him with a very confused look on his face. Then he starts saying "Daddy poo poo...yucky, yucky,....Daddy poo poo! While he is saying that he is still walking around Daddy and lifting his feet up like he is walking is something truly yucky! It was so hilarious and Pat and I couldn't do anything but crack up! Kids are so funny and we grown ups really have to be careful! Like I said, I really hope the humor is found here and nobody is thinking why in the world I decided to share this story! You have to admit it is very funny!! Right??????

Being Brave!

So, I missed Will so much while I was in Blowing Rock the first week for the horse show, I decided to take him with me for the second week! While it was very good to have him there with me, it was also very hard. I have a hard time getting myself ready and prepared when I am by myself at horse shows, so times that by about 1 million! This is something I will not do again without some help. I do have to thank the sweet girls for helping me with him while I rode!! Needless to say, the hotel room got very small for the four days we were in it together!! While we were there, I took Will to Tweetsie Railroad. This is a very cool place and I recommend to everyone. Will had so much fun and loved riding the train and all the other rides! It would have been a lot easier if someone else had been there with me, but we got through it on our own. After the horse show was over on Sunday, Will and I headed to my parents mountain house in Sapphire Lakes. (or as Will says, "Pop Pops mountain house") We stayed there until today and just relaxed in the cool weather. While all our adventures were a lot of fun, it is GREAT to be home! Will is so happy to be home to all his stuff!

Baby Fix!

On my one full day home in between the horse show, I had to go get my baby fix! I took Will to Nana's and went to see Haley and sweet Emory Anne! Caroline came too, so it was fun to catch up with her and Haley! This was the first time I have seen her since she was a day old, so I was excited to see how much she has changed and grown! Emory Anne is so beautiful and such a sweet little angel! I had so much fun holding her and seeing her sweet baby faces! It is truly amazing how holding a little baby can make all the troubles in the world disapear! Haley also looks amazing! After I had Will, people would tell me that I glowed and how good motherhood must be for me. I would always say "okay, whatever, they are just trying to make me feel better!" But now I know what they meant...Haley is glowing and has never looked more beautiful!! Thanks for letting me visit and I can't wait to come again soon!

Gone Fishin'!

What a busy two and a half weeks we have had! Two weekends ago while I was in Blowing Rock for a horse show, Will divided his time between Nana and Pop Pops and time with Daddy. On Saturday, Will and Daddy went to Millaree to go fishing with Uncle Chris. Although Will had fun, he does only have an attention span of about two minutes. After all the fun, he took a nap and Daddy and Uncle Chris continued without him. On Sunday, he went to see his Gamma and Gampa at their lakehouse. Not only did he get to see them, but he also got to play with Durham! What a big weekend with Daddy!
